Camilo is a corporate lawyer specialized in private equity, venture capital and M&A. He focuses his practice on fund formation, private offerings and venture capital financing deals. He advises founders, emerging companies and investors based in the United States and Latin America.
Originally from Ecuador, Camilo has advised entrepreneurs, startups, Fortune 500 corporations and non-governmental entities. Before joining Next Legal, Camilo served as International Law Clerk at the Miami office of Holland & Knight LLP, where he was part of the Financial Services, M&A and Latin America teams. He worked with financial institutions and public and private corporations in capital markets and M&A transactions, both local and international.
In Ecuador he worked as a senior associate at the firm Pérez Bustamante & Ponce, in the M&A, and Banking and Insurance teams, where he advised local and foreign corporations, participated in cross-border transactions, public-private partnerships, and in the establishment of benefit corporations. He also served as clerk at the Constitutional Court of Ecuador.
Camilo holds degrees from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, University College London, Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, and Columbia Law School. Camilo is licensed to practice in New York and Ecuador, and he is fluent in English and Spanish.

- Participated in the design, negotiation and closing of secured credit facility transactions between a Latin American national government and a European bank.
- Advised UnitedHealth Group in the strategic acquisition of several healthcare technology companies.
- Advised Owens-Illinois in the acquisition of the food & beverage division of Vitro, one of the largest glass producers worldwide, for approximately US$2.15 billion.
- Advised PVH Inc. on its US$200 million joint venture with Grupo Axo for the distribution of the Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein brands in Mexico.
- Advised Sealed Air Corporation in the sale of the Diversey Care division and the food hygiene and cleaning business within its Food Care division to Bain Capital for approximately US$3.2 billion.
- Represented the Mexican entities of Smurfit Kappa Group plc in its issuance of €500 million worth of bonds.
- Represented Jaguar Land Rover UK in the launch of its Mexican distribution subsidiary.
- Advised Cabify in their Mexico operations which included lobbying efforts with the Mexico City transportation authority.
