Sofía represents venture capital funds, angel investors, startups, and entrepreneurs, primarily from Latin America and Spain, in venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other high-impact corporate transactions. Over the past 12 years, she has guided dozens of startups and investors through the complexities of the U.S. venture capital legal landscape, earning a reputation for delivering strategic, efficient, and pragmatic legal counsel.

Widely recognized as a leading voice in the venture capital sector, Sofía is known for her sharp insight, cross-border expertise, and ability to simplify complex transactions. Her clients appreciate her responsiveness, cultural fluency, and results-driven approach.

Beyond her client work, Sofía is deeply committed to fostering innovation and inclusion in the tech and investment ecosystems. She regularly collaborates with venture funds, accelerators, and industry organizations as a mentor and speaker, promoting legal education, entrepreneurship, and diversity in the VC space.

Before joining Next Legal, Sofía practiced at Greenberg Traurig in Miami and at Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira, one of Spain’s premier law firms.

Sofía holds dual legal training in civil and common law. She earned a J.D. and a B.B.A. from CEU San Pablo University in Madrid and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in both New York and Spain, and is fluent in Spanish, English, and French.

Past representations include:

- Advised prominent European and Latin American startups in financing transactions totaling over $500 million, including bridge rounds (SAFEs, convertible notes), Series Seed, Series A, and Series B rounds.
- Regularly counsel Latin American and Spanish venture capital funds on their Series Seed, Series A and Series B investments across various sectors.
- Ongoing representation of major Latin American conglomerates in connection with their corporate venture capital (CVC) investments and M&A activity.
- Guided dozens of Latin American startups through corporate restructurings and U.S. “Flip” transactions to support global fundraising strategies.
- Advised on some of the largest Series A and Series B financing rounds in Peru, Chile and Mexico.
- Provide ongoing counsel to Latin America-based angel investors and accelerators on due diligence and early-stage (seed) investments.
