Use of Artificial Intelligence
Next Legal PLLC uses generative artificial intelligence tools to support, not replace, the professional judgment of our attorneys. This page summarizes how we use them and is only for informational purposes. The terms that govern our representation of any client are set out in that client’s engagement letter.

Approved tools only
We use generative AI on client work only through enterprise tools the firm has reviewed and approved, accessed through firm-controlled accounts. Firm personnel may not use personal AI accounts or unapproved tools for client work, and client information may not be entered into any tool that has not been approved. We review our AI providers’ commercial, data processing, and data-use terms regularly.
Attorney verification
AI does not give legal advice at Next Legal. Before relying on or sharing AI-assisted work with a client or anyone else, the responsible attorney personally checks every citation, quotation, statutory or regulatory reference, case name, defined term, party name, date, and figure against the original source.
Client control
Clients may ask us to limit or avoid using AI on their matters. Where we agree, that restriction is recorded and followed for the matter.
Calls and meetings
AI notetakers, transcription tools, and meeting assistants may be used on calls involving clients, opposing parties, or counterparties only if every participant has consented. A third party’s AI tool may join a call with the firm only with the firm’s advance written approval.
Billing
We do not charge clients for our AI subscriptions. We bill only for time actually spent, including time spent preparing inputs and reviewing and verifying outputs, and never for time saved by AI.
Questions about our use of AI may be sent to info@nextlegal.us.
