As a multi-jurisdictional transactional attorney, Juan Pablo advises clients on domestic and cross-border venture capital and private
equity investments, corporate reorganizations, M&A transactions, and general corporate governance matters.
Prior to joining Next Legal, Juan Pablo was a member of the corporate-transactional practice at the Mexico City office of Hogan
Lovells (formerly Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa, S.C.), where he focused on M&A, banking, and corporate finance transactions.
Juan Pablo also advised foreign energy companies in public bidding opportunities for large-scale oil & gas and renewable energy
projects in Mexico. Additionally, Juan Pablo counseled Latin American start-ups in their expansion ventures and helped them navigate
the Mexican legal framework to adapt disruptive business models to local statutory requirements.
Juan Pablo was also a Foreign Associate at the corporate-transactional practice of the Washington, D.C. office of Hogan Lovells US
LLP (2019-2020), where he focused on cross-border M&A and capital markets transactions.
Originally from Mexico, Juan Pablo holds both civil and common law legal degrees, with a J.D. from Universidad Iberoamericana, an
M&A Specialization Diploma from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School,
where he received a full-tuition scholarship from Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT) awarded on merits of
professional development. Juan Pablo is licensed to practice in both New York and Mexico and is fluent in English and Spanish.

Advised Owens-Illinois in the acquisition of the food & beverage division of Vitro, one of the largest glass producers
worldwide, for approximately US$2.15 billion.
Advised PVH Inc. on its US$200 million joint venture with Grupo Axo for the distribution of the Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin
Klein brands in Mexico.
Advised Sealed Air Corporation in the sale of the Diversey Care division and the food hygiene and cleaning business within its
Food Care division to Bain Capital for approximately US$3.2 billion.
Represented the Mexican entities of Smurfit Kappa Group plc in its issuance of €500 million worth of bonds.
Represented Jaguar Land Rover UK in the launch of its Mexican distribution subsidiary.
Advised Cabify in their Mexico operations which included lobbying efforts with the Mexico City transportation authority.
